Livelihood Generation & Migration Reduction

One of the major challenges faced by rural India is migration caused by the lack of local employment opportunities. Every year, thousands of skilled artisans, women, and young people leave their villages in search of low-paying and insecure jobs in cities. This migration often results in family separation, loss of traditional skills, poor living conditions, and increased social and economic vulnerability.

Dharohar Foundation believes that migration should be a choice, not a compulsion. We work to create sustainable livelihood opportunities within villages by promoting handicrafts, handloom, natural resource-based enterprises, and rural entrepreneurship. Through skill development, design innovation, production support, business mentoring, and market linkages, we help artisans earn dignified incomes while remaining connected to their families, culture, and communities.
